The nomination is for the Enterprise and Innovation Office’s work to foster an entrepreneurial culture among staff and students. Pro-Vice-Chancellor for enterprise, knowledge transfer and international strategy, Professor Richard Williams, leads the establishment.

At the University of Leeds, development, support and practice of entrepreneurship are now explicit criteria in academic promotions. There are 40 Enterprise Scholarships for current and future students, while a business start-up service for students and graduates is integrated in the Careers Centre.

The nomination also highlights the key part the University of Leeds has played in setting up the global enterprise initiative through the Worldwide Universities Network. Further details about the WUN global enterprise initiative can be found at on the Enterprise website. Read more about the THE Awards 2008.

The winners will be announced at the Awards evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, on 23 October 2008.
